Anti-microbial door hardware helps fight germs

Besam customers in some markets can now choose to have their doors equipped with hardware featuring ASSA ABLOY’s MicroShield™ technology.

MicroShield™ is a revolutionary finish that permanently suppresses the growth of bacteria, algae, fungus, mold and mildew. The silver-based coating continuously destroys infectious organisms by attacking cell walls, interrupting metabolism and preventing reproduction. This makes it ideal for door hardware applications where vigilance in the war against bacteria and mold is critical, including healthcare facilities, laboratories, restaurants, offices, schools, and daycare facilities.

Besam North America, which sells a line of manual sliding doors for intensive care and critical care units in hospitals, is now offering MicroShield-treated door handles and latches as an option. Customers can also choose to have their complete door package treated with the long-lasting anti-microbial coating.
